Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park · Colorado

Black Canyon of the Gunnison has some of the steepest cliffs and oldest exposed rock in North America, carved by the Gunnison River. The South Rim Road has a string of overlooks, many with short walks, and the South Rim Visitor Center has exhibits and ranger program information. Drop-offs are sheer, so keep little ones close and stay behind railings; parts of the rim roads close in winter.

Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park website before you go.
