Carlsbad Caverns National Park · New Mexico
Carlsbad Caverns has more than 119 caves under the Chihuahuan Desert, and the main cavern's Big Room is one of the largest cave chambers in North America. Families can ride the elevator down to walk the Big Room trail or walk in through the Natural Entrance, and from late spring into fall rangers host evening programs as bats fly out of the cave. Cave entry requires a timed-entry ticket, so reserve ahead on nps.gov or Recreation.gov.
