New River Gorge National Park and Preserve · West Virginia

New River Gorge follows one of the oldest rivers on the continent through a deep, forested canyon in West Virginia. The Canyon Rim Visitor Center has a boardwalk with views of the famous New River Gorge Bridge, and there are overlooks, short trails, and historic coal towns to explore. Whitewater rafting outfitters run trips here; ask them about age limits for kids.

Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official New River Gorge National Park and Preserve website before you go.
