Petrified Forest National Park · Arizona

Petrified Forest has one of the world's largest collections of colorful petrified wood, along with painted badlands, ancient petroglyphs, and a stretch of historic Route 66. A scenic road runs through the park, and short trails like Giant Logs behind the Rainbow Forest Museum and the Blue Mesa loop are good for kids. Remind everyone that taking petrified wood is not allowed.

Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Petrified Forest National Park website before you go.
