Parkway
Blue Ridge Parkway · North Carolina · Virginia
The Blue Ridge Parkway winds along the southern Appalachians with overlooks, short trails, and visitor centers between Virginia and North Carolina. Families can break the drive into scenic stops, picnic spots, and easy walks without needing one long hike. Sections can close for weather or maintenance, so check the parkway’s current conditions on nps.gov.
Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Blue Ridge Parkway website before you go.
Wild Base Family is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the National Park Service. Park brochures and Junior Ranger books are free official materials published by the National Park Service; our links open the official PDF (on nps.gov) when one is available online.
