Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve · Colorado

Great Sand Dunes has the tallest dunes in North America, framed by mountains, forests, and grasslands. Kids can climb and run the dunes anywhere, and in late spring and early summer Medano Creek often flows at the base of the dunes for splashing. Sand gets very hot on summer afternoons, so go early or late; sand sleds and boards are not rented in the park, so pick them up from outside businesses.

Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve website before you go.
