Katmai National Park and Preserve · Alaska
Katmai on the Alaska Peninsula is famous for brown bears catching salmon at Brooks Falls. Most visitors fly in to Brooks Camp from King Salmon, attend a bear safety talk, and watch from viewing platforms, with the busiest bear viewing usually in July and September. Families who cannot make the trip can watch the park's live bear cams online.
Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Katmai National Park and Preserve website before you go.
