Lassen Volcanic National Park · California
Lassen Volcanic has all four types of volcanoes, plus bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, mountain lakes, and wildflower meadows. Sulphur Works is right next to the park road for an easy look at hydrothermal activity, and Manzanita Lake is great for a short loop walk or paddling. The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is open year-round, but snow closes much of the main park highway from fall into early summer.
Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Lassen Volcanic National Park website before you go.
