Pinnacles National Park · California
Pinnacles formed from ancient volcanic eruptions and is full of rocky spires, shady canyons, and talus caves. Kids love the Bear Gulch Cave area (bring flashlights, and check whether the cave is open, since parts close seasonally to protect bats), and lucky visitors spot California condors soaring overhead. The east and west entrances are not connected by road, and spring is the best season before summer heat.
Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Pinnacles National Park website before you go.
