Pipestone National Monument · Minnesota

For over 3,000 years, Indigenous people have quarried the red stone at this site to make pipes used in prayer and ceremony – a tradition that continues to this day and makes this site sacred to many people. Families can start at the visitor center for maps, exhibits, and Junior Ranger materials; always check nps.gov for current hours and conditions before you go.

Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official Pipestone National Monument website before you go.
