North Cascades National Park · Washington
North Cascades protects jagged peaks with more than 300 glaciers, forested valleys, and bright turquoise lakes, all within a few hours of Seattle. Along the North Cascades Highway, families can stop at the visitor center in Newhalem, walk short trails, and take in the view at Diablo Lake Overlook. The highway through the mountains closes in winter, so summer and early fall are the easiest times to visit.
Hours, roads, and programs change with the seasons. Check current conditions on the official North Cascades National Park website before you go.
